The other morning I woke up for work a few minutes early so I could get ahead of my morning and help Ace with his morning routine. When I came out of my room he was in front of the TV watching Full House on Nickelodeon already with a bowl of cereal. The episode that was on was one I remember watching around the time I was his age. I heated up leftovers for him from dinner that he wanted in his lunch and let him pack the rest. A little while later he was talking my ear off at the sink next to me combing his hair, and brushing his teeth. Soon after that he was off to school. I love my time with him. He is my little sweetie. No other way to put it than that.
Typically when I am with Surfer Boy, it’s the three of us. SB, Ace and I spend a lot of time together. On the weekends though he does have a life of his own and is off with friends, or mowing lawns, or helping at the Elks Lodge with his grandma or grandpa. He is as busy as his dad and I. He always makes it to the table for dinner. That is how I think it should be and how family should come together each and every day.
Recently, I went with “the boys” trap shooting or is it shooting trap? They went and shot guns. I grabbed my camera and warm clothes and we were off just as the sun was coming up. Ace loves to shoot guns. For a novice at only 13, he is pretty darn good! He shot a 21 out of 25 rounds on his first go. He even had a problem with his gun and switched up a gun with a friend of ours and still shot 21 in the first round. I will lightly say that the big boy’s ego’s had a few scratches on them after that first round! What a little stud! Here are some pics:
Surfer Boy pulled the traps, grandpa stood watch and I shot some pictures. We met up with about 7 or 8 others.
If you can look close enough at these 2 pics you will see the shell flying and the traps exploding. I am way too proud of myself for capturing these pictures.
Here are a few more:
It rained the night before and was just beautiful during the sunrise. Oh the shooting was good too! Ace smoked all of them and was invited to a dessert run with the big boys. I think him and SB will head out for a night after Christmas. Good memories to be had.
